A Word About Art Supplies! There are no "right" tools to use when you make art. You can buy a $50 brush or use a broken twig. The important thing is to make art! Having said that, there are a few art supplies that can help make learning to draw easier. Beginners (and youngsters) might be comfortable with soft pencils and crayons. Intermediate to advanced artists might like pencils varying in size and hardness (2H is a hard pencil, HB is a normal #2 pencil, and 2B is a soft pencil). My favorite colored pencils are Berol Prismacolor, and I like to have hundreds of them to choose from. Markers are generally for advanced users. Pantone makes an amazing TRIA marker, with 3 different points! There are new markers on the market called COPIC markers, and they blend beautifully! To ink your work, I recommend the Sakura Pigma MICRON pens--a selection of different point sizes--and Faber Castell makes a great brush pen called a PITT brush pen. |
