HOW TO DRAW BIGFOOT!

For Intermediate Artists

Step 1

Draw a large circle in the center of the page--this will be Bigfoot's chest. Draw a smaller circle inside the large circle--make the top of the circles touch. The smaller circle will be Bigfoot's head.

Remember, you don't have to draw the circles precisely--and they don't have to look like mine. It's important to make your own versions of these creatures.

Step 2

Starting at the top of the head, draw a large downward-pointing noodle as Bigfoot's left arm. Draw an oval for the forearm. Repeat for the right arm.

Draw another, smaller downward-pointing noodle at the bottom of the larger circle. This will be Bigfoot's thigh. Draw a triangle for the calf. Repeat for the right leg.

Step 3

Draw a circle for the left hand. The hand is in the shape of a fist, so you will see 4 knuckles. Draw four small circles along the bottom of the hand circle. Draw a half-circle (orange slice) for the thumb. Repeat for the right hand.

What kind of a Bigfoot would he be without really big feet? Draw the left foot as a narrow football shape--the heel of the foot should touch the inner corner of the triangle. Draw four small circles along the bottom ridge of the foot. Then draw a larger circle for the big toe. Repeat for the right foot.

Step 4

Move up to the head. One third from the top of the head, draw a line for the eyebrows. Starting where the line touches the left side of the head, draw an "M" shape for the hairline. Draw small circles for the eyes and small dots for the eyes. Put a mask shape around the eyes--this will be a shadow from the eyebrows. Make the nose with an "M" shape in the center of the face, with dots for nostrils. One third from the bottom of the head, draw the mouth--it can be a smile or a frown just by turning the ends up or down. I like to draw Bigfoot with a weird little snaggletooth poking out. Put half-circles (orange slices) on either side of his head for ears.

Step 5

Using a darker drawing tool (pen, brushpen, marker, dark pencil), outline Bigfoot--make your line a little wiggly, to show fur. Make some stray lines and marks around the body to look furry. Fill in the mask shape around the eyes--this makes his eyes look like they're set back in the eye sockets. Give Bigfoot a nice beard.

Bigfoot can't run around the Pacific Northwest without clothes! Draw a pair of shorts on him.

Step 6

Erase all the guiding pencil lines.

Step 7

Use your favorite coloring tools to finish your drawing--markers, colored pencils, crayons, or chocolate smears from your favorite candy bar.

Bigfoot wouldn't wear boring shorts--put a pattern on him--maybe some cute flowers...
